Well, here’s my story of how ow accessing extra capital through attracting and wring grants changed my life and career in unexpected ways.
More than ten years ago, I was working as a researcher in prominent non-profits in Washington, DC. My jobs were fantastic, my co-workers were amazing, and things were going exceptionally well.
But, I was suffocating because I wasn’t doing what I was put here to do! Do you know how that feels?
I knew I was meant for more. And I bet you feel the same way.
So, after my 3rd son was born, I wanted to leave my job and become a stay at home mom! What? I had a Ph.D., a small coaching practice, a husband with an unstable job history due to mental illness, people who loved and depended on me. I wanted to walk away from my good job and stay home and take care of my infant… for three years. To say that I was terrified was an understatement! Here is what happened next:
✅ Left my 6 – figure job
✅ Started buying, renting, and flipping houses for the next three years
✅ Bought my first three houses with no money down
✅ Introduced travel to my life in a way that was not possible before
✅ Generated more than a million in homes, land, and cash
✅ Became the sole breadwinner off and on for a while– my husband was not into the real estate game like I was.
✅ Got bored at home when my son started pre-school
✅ Went back to work as a researcher (after 3- years)
✅ Quit after a year and a half because I wanted more inspiring work then,
✅ Got a dream job in higher education
✅ Found that my dream job came without a dream budget
⏩ Started writing grants
⏩ Landed 1st grant 85K
⏩ Landed 2nd grant 300K
⏩ Landed 3rd grant 900K
⏩ Got more than 5 Million in 4 years
⏩ Got promoted, and many opportunities and job offers because of my track record
⏩ Was given loads of freedom at work because I could deliver, including time off to write more
Why am I sharing this? Not to brag, but to show you what is possible for you!
